MNGV represents the Metis voice at many levels throughout the Greater Victoria area and at the Provincial Metis level. Being a registered member of the community will give you direct access and insight into any events offered through, or with, MNGV, and to have us hear your thoughts and represent your perspectives, concerns, etc.

Who can be a Member of Métis Nation of Greater Victoria?
Individuals who self-identify as Métis, are of verified historic Métis ancestry and live within the geographic boundaries of the Métis Nation of Greater Victoria are eligible to become MNGV members. The geographic boundaries of MNGV align with the Capital Regional District boundaries.
How do I know if I am of historic Métis ancestry?
Métis Nation of Greater Victoria aligns with the Métis National Council definition of the Métis Nation and the Historic Métis Homeland.
How do I verify my historic Métis ancestry?
There are two ways that your Métis geneaological information can be verified for Métis Nation of Greater Victoria membership:
1) You can apply to become a citizen through Métis Nation of British Columbia, and they will determine if your Métis geneology can be verified.
2) You can have your geneology verified through the St. Boniface Society in Manitoba.
How do I become a member of Métis Nation of Greater Victoria?
First, chose which way you would like to verify your genealogy through one of the methods above. If you choose to do so through MNBC, the final step of your application will be to connect you back with us as a community and you will be added to our membership automatically at that point.
If you choose to do so through St Boniface, once you’ve received your verified geneaology back, connect with us to (or click the button below) to fill out your MNGV application. Then, please email your Métis Nation of Greater Victoria membership application, and all applicable documentation to office@mngv.ca
